Mt. Thinchingkhang 6010m Sikkim Himalaya

in 2007 Rob Laan returned from a successful expedition to Mt. Thinchingkhan 6010 m, a beautiful mountain in Sikkim, just south of Mt. Kanchenjunga. Together with Robert and Cornelia Allenbach, Paul v.d. Riviere  and 3 Sherpa's Thukpa, Phurba and "Dibi", they were the first Swiss to climb this peak.

For Rob this was a great moment since he was the first Dutch national to climb this peak. However, only thanks to the great support of the whole team of Sherpa's, Cooks and helpers, this was possible. The challenging route existed of steep Ice slopes up to 60° and vertical rock passage, as you can see on the picture to the right.

The experience of this climb helps Rob to conduct the hikes in the future.

Gongratulations on the success!

FAQ

Do I need a visa to travel to Switzerland?
 - That depends on your nationality, please check with the Swiss Consulate or Embessy in your country. Switzerland is part of the Schengen territory so the same Visa as for the Schengen-countries applies.

What are your cancellation policies?
 - We ask for a small deposit (10% of the total amount) which we apply to the costs of reservations etc. When cancelled more than 4 weeks prior the starting date, we will refund this amount less CHF 50 for incurred costs. When cancelled less than 4 weeks prior the starting, we can't reimburse the deposit.

When is the best time to book a trip to Switzerland?

 - Every season has it's own beauty, however for hiking tours we reccomend the period between May and November. Please bear in mind that even in the midst of summer, the weather can force us to change the itinerary. Snowstorms can occur every month of the year above 1000m / 3000ft.

Why should I book my trip through Swiss Mountain Tours?

 - Swiss Mountain Tours is not a travel agency. We are specialized on guiding guests that already have booked their lodging. Although complete arrangements can be made too!
